16th Annual Funshoot for the Cancer Therapy Research Center

     More than 400 people turned out Saturday, Sept. 12 to raise funds for the Cancer Therapy & Research Center (CTRC) at The UT Health Science Center. The event was the 16th annual Funshoot, sponsored by Vulcan Materials’ Southwest Division and held at the National Shooting Complex in northwest Bexar County.

Run 4 Life

     Run 4 Life was held on September 10, 2005, at Brackenridge Park in San Antonio, TX. Vulcan was the "Gold Ribbon Sponsor" for the 7th annual Run 4 Life. Vulcan employees along with their families and friends were able to run or walk the 5K event. This is a major fundraiser for the Cancer Therapy Research Center of San Antonio.

Coggin Park

     The city of Brownwood, TX is excited about their newly renovated Coggin Park. The Brownwood Plant donated funds through the Vulcan Foundation to the Park's renovation project. The Park celebrated its 100th birthday this May. One of the exciting features of the park is the Children's Rock Quarry, where kids can climb and play on boulders.

Knippa's 360 Tour

     The Knippa, TX Plant gave a 360 Tour to local students attending Knippa High School in Southern Texas. The students were shown the plant, stock piles, shop and pit. A geologist from the University of Texas gave a lecture about the differences between lava and magma.
